New Begings

In September, I started a new chapter in my life. I ventured into a new and unknown path with a lot of inhibitions. I have joined Make My Trip as a Holiday Expert.

I work from home for MakeMyTrip and help customers in finalizing the best holiday package. I am responsible for sales of holiday Packages (Domestic), designing itineraries, costing, hotel booking etc.

Initially it seemed impossible as it was a totally different career. It was not easy - Initially I was working for nearly 12 hrs which made me wonder if I had made the right decision. But what kept me going is the fact that  after years, I was finally doing something. I was not merely Mrs Pius or Jordan & Gavin's Mama. I was Liz Pius, Holiday Expert for Make my trip and had started to earn again. Also I could do it while being there for my kids at home.

For me, going out to work leaving my kids with a nanny was not an option. So this gave me an opportunity to be financially self sufficient again

My Edible Creations

I have enjoyed cooking ever since I was able to help my mother with chopping vegetables, mixing cake batters and arranging salads.  After becoming a full time mom  it has become a passion, as it was the only thing I could indulge in whole heartedly. And I love to make food for people I love and really enjoy seeing them satiated.

I have a weakness for recipe books and I keep collecting recipes from magazines, relatives, friends, net etc and I also reinvent recipes based on something I have liked. I want to document and share as many as possible through my blogs henceforth. Below I have pictures of a few of my creations and I will try to post the recipes  of the corresponding pictures in the near future.

I always make 2 cakes for birthdays.On the 2 nd one, I use all the left over icings and toppings.This cake was made with my mom's trademark recipe which I have to still perfect. 

                                                

This was my 1st attempt at cake decoration. After which I have only been more and more passionate about baking. This cake was in no way perfect, but for me this was my first step and hence it will be always close to my heart. Below are a few of my other attempts .

 This is just a picture of the very first recipe I had put up on Tarla Dalal's site nearly 10 years back. 

     

 My other weakness is Chocolates. So far I have experimented with a few varieties from Neeta Mehta's Chocolate cook book,have done a few combinations and mix and matches and come up with a few of my own too.

Every year in my son's school they have a food arrangement competition [ no cooking, no cutting] on the feast day of their school. We have to do all the preparations at home teach them and they have to arrange it themselves at school. Below arrangements are done by my elder son Jordan since last 3 years.

My cousin Tina is a Chickeggoholic. I had made this breakfast for her birthday with all her favourite egg prepations[ which is anything and everything]. Her expression of absolute glee is something which is hard to forget. These are all  that I have done till date.

This is the concluding part of the " My beginning" series...An introduction to my

forthcoming blogs. Henceforth I will try to document as much details as possible on my creations be it crafts costumes or cookery.

My 1st Step

Some months back I started a blog which was as given below and I lost track of it. I never went beyond the few words I had written.

COOKING, CRAFT AND CREATIVITY

When you are young, you dream of using your talents to make a difference in this world. As the years pass by, life grabs you from different directions and you loose track of your dreams and your self. Your talents and ideas though, get channelized into various mediums.

I love to cook & bake , craft articles ,make costumes.....and much more.

This blog is an attempt to rediscover My Self.....and share it and make a difference in some small way.

I have a starting trouble.A major chunk of my time is spent thinking before I actually start with anything at all. Be it a dish I have to make or bake, or any craft item.Even with this blog I have spent months thinking of where to start and how to start. So today I finally decided to post whatever I have and write what ever I can. Once its out there I can add or modify whatever I want,whenever I want and however I want. So here I am going to post pictures of my creations and dishes. Which I shall follow with details of the same .
